We Don't Talk Anymore (Shreyas Khatavkar) - Charlie Puth Ft. Selena Gomez (Guitar Cover)

When I look at Shreyas, I remember my first year of guitaring. I used to be just as slow as him with playing new tunes on the guitar. But the one thing that worked for me was patience and hard work. So, I trained Shreyas with the same approach that worked for me. I let him play at his own speed. I was extremely patient with his slow progress. We took a total of 9 months to finish his first video. We started with a slightly tougher song, Night Changes, by One Direction. However, since it had too many chords and a few strumming patterns, we decided to scrap it and find an easier song. We chose We Don't Talk Anymore since it had only 4 chords.
Most students don't train or stick around for more than 6 months. Usually, a person's patience runs out in 6 months as well. However, Shreyas was in no hurry, he knew he was working hard, and I'm guessing he had faith in my teachings and judgment. It must have been extremely frustrating for him to work so hard and watch all the other students complete videos before him, but he never showed it, and neither did he ever give up hope.
Shreyas is going to face similar challenges in most of the goals he tries to achieve in the real world, but I want him to know one thing - If you keep doing one thing for a long while, with the right technique and intellect, it might take 5 years, but you emerge better than average after 5 years. Repetition and routine give birth to certain skills and reflexes that no naturally talented person or a quick learner can ever bring to the table.
So, I hope you like our cover of We Don't Talk Anymore. We've made a few errors, but we have a decent video and we're both happy with the effort and progress. This is a victory for us.
